Zac Efron has revealed that he’d be keen to strip off and join the cast of the forthcoming ‘Magic Mike’ sequel.
‘Magic Mike’ was released in 2012 and saw Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer whipping their kit off and playing a troupe of strippers, loosely based on Channing’s own experiences as a male stripper before he made it big as an actor.
He confirmed on his Twitter page in July 2012 that production had started on a sequel to the comedy, whose title has since been revealed as ‘Magic Mike XXL’, while Zac Efron has now confirmed that he’d like to star in it.
The ‘Bad Neighbours’ star, who won ‘Best Shirtless Performance’ for his scenes in ‘That Awkard Moment’ at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, told KIIS FM: “I loved the movie, I thought it was really funny. I haven’t talked to anybody about it yet but it’s a great group of people - I would definitely be interested.”
Meanwhile, Zac also revealed that taking his shirt off onstage at the MTV Movie Awards in April - a stunt that got us all talking - wasn’t planned, and instead he was urged to do it on the spur of the moment by singer Rita Ora, who was presented him with his award.
He explained: “I had no idea. I had some sort of terrible speech planned, I was having a mild heart attack up there and Rita, bless her heart saved me.”
Rita - we owe you one. Well done, girl.
Zac stars opposite Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne in ‘Bad Neighbours’, in UK cinemas now.
