Julie will star alongside Freddie Fox and Vincent Franklin in the series, which is currently filming in Manchester but won't hit our screens until next year.

Russell T Davies' other TV credits include 'Queer As Folk' and 'Doctor Who'.

'Cucumber' follows the lives of 46-year-old Henry (Franklin) and his boyfriend Lance, whose 'lives are turned upside down after a disastrous date night', according to the BBC.

Julie - who will play Henry's sister - left 'Corrie' in January, after clocking up 16 years on the cobbles playing the soap's first ever transgender character .
