'Breaking Bad' Spin-Off Series 'Better Call Saul' Commissioned For Second Season... Before The First Has Even Aired

FIRST LOOK: 'Breaking Bad' Spin-Off 'Better Call Saul'

Breaking Bad’ fans suffering withdrawals after the show’s final episode aired last year can breathe a sigh of relief, as the first photo of the show’s spin-off series ‘Better Call Saul’ has been revealed.

What’s more, the prequel - which will focus on the life of sketchy lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) before the meth-addled world of ‘Breaking Bad’ took over his life - has already been renewed for a second season, before a single episode has even been aired.

Unfortunately for fans keen to sink their teeth into the new show, there’ll be a long wait before they can as the first of the ten episodes commissioned for Season 1 isn’t due to air until “early 2015”, while the second will air a year later.

AMC president Charlie Collier justified the decision to keep fans hanging on in a statement, saying: “When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of ‘Breaking Bad’, there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves. No half measures.”

However, he did say that the show was in production, explaining: “Production on Better Call Saul is underway and we could not be more proud of nor more excited about the work to date. We join the fans in eager anticipation for this series and today we happily confirm that our initial Saul order is for two seasons and a total of 23 episodes.”
