Perfecting their hair AND beauty regime is something even most product-obsessed woman can only dream of.
Getting both down to an absolute tee is no easy feat and a new study by Hairtrade.com has revealed a whole host of mistakes we British ladies make on the grooming front. Every. Single. Day.
Of the women asked, these were the 10 most common hair and beauty faux pas... *Reads list, nods at them all, re-thinks whole routine*
1. Washing hair too much
Squeaky clean is NOT a good thing. Washing too frequently strips out natural oils so try to leave it at least three days in between washes if you want glossy, healthy-looking tresses.
2. Applying too much conditioner
Focus on the tips (those older, totally-wrecked-from-straightening areas) - think less scalp action and concentrate more on the ends. This is how to get volume, baby.
3. Not using a heat protector
If your hairdryer/straighteners/curling tongs are part of your daily routine then a heat protector is a bloody MUST. A spritz of any good heat protecting product (opt for an argan oil variety) is how to avoid dry, frizzy territory.
4. Tying your ponytail in the same place
WE TOTALLY DO THIS *winces at thought of a growing balding patch*. Always wear your hair in the same easy-up, scraped back ponytail? Try not to tie it in exactly the same place every day as this can cause too much tension on the hair and will weaken it over time.
5. Forgetting to wash make-up brushes
Cleaning those brushes once a week is essential if the word bacteria gives you the shudders. That goes for every brush in your makeup bag too: eyebrow, eyeshadow, blusher/bronzer...
6. Neglecting your neck
If you cleanse and moisturise your neck every day then bravo you. If not, don't stop at your chin - make sure you focus on the thin, delicate skin on your neck.
7. Over-treating and over-covering spots
Over-application in a breakout situ is a given but caking on the concealer and/or spot cream is a mega no-no. Let your skin breathe.
8. Applying foundation before moisturiser is dry
Must. Have. Patience. Let your skin soak up your moisturiser before you start applying foundation to avoid that streaky look.
9. Plucking eyebrows too close to the mirror
Got a major thing for going heavy on the eyebrow plucking up close in the mirror, we all do right? Well, if you pluck too close to the mirror you'll miss looking at the overall shape of your eyebrows. The results? Thin, uneven, not even close to Cara-Delevinge-like brows. Use a large mirror and take a couple of steps back so you can see your whole face, not just your eyebrows.
10. Yellow nails
First of all, yuck. Alas, it's true - if you love everything about nail art then you could be prone to yellow nails. The answer? Always apply a base coat and this will help prevent the stains.
