American underwear brand Aerie made headlines this week as their latest ad campaign featuring un-airbrushed models went viral. Great right?
Considering the whole world likes to get up in arms and make GIFs to highlight the extent to which images of women in the media are photoshopped, it wasn't much of a surprise that Aerie found itself awash with praise.
But guess what? Now, one of their models, Amber Tolliver, has admitted she actually likes retouching. Duh, duh, duuuuuh!
"I do like to see a little retouching on myself," the 28-year-old told Elle. "I mean, any normal person is slightly insecure about little things on their body, and you can blink an eye and poof it's gone [in retouching], great."
We suppose she's got a point.
However, she also said she'd rather work on embracing the imperfections and go un-retouched than have it all smoothed over.
"To recreate a human being using a computer process is a bit of an attack on who you naturally are. Like, if I'm not good enough or if I'm not beautiful enough, then why'd you book me?"
