Backstage at the GilesSpring/Summer 2014 show, Toni and Guy's Global Creative Director Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck had been busy braiding hair all afternoon (in fact, it was a two-man job per model).
Why? "The hair is inspired by Braveheart this season", she told us. "So there's a lot of texture. We're doing these double knotted braids - the hair has to be divided into four sections and it requires two hairdressers. You can't do this by yourself!"
Sounds complicated, but the fluffed-up, windswept effect isn't as hard to achieve as it looks.
Sacha used "loads of Label.m's Resurrection Dust. Even if the model has brunette hair, we're still using the blonde dust for extra texture".
And to get that almost back-combed volume at the front of the braid? "We're working Miracle Fibre through the front of the hair to make it flat", Sacha said.
There haven't been many braids at London Fashion Week so far, but this plait? It's the most impressive of the season, hands down. You just might need to rope in a friend to help you do it...
