Police have released an image of a woman they suspect of trying to snatch a baby from a hospital.
The woman appeared to make a 'brief' attempt to take the three-week-old baby girl from a cot at St Thomas' Hospital, in central London, the Metropolitan Police said.
She approached the cot as it was being wheeled into a lift, saying she wanted to see the baby.
The woman then made a brief attempt to reach into the cot but pulled away and did not touch the child.
Staff and family members who were present on Saturday night then got into the lift and prevented the woman from joining. She remained in the area before leaving the hospital. Police are concerned for her wellbeing.
Police described her as 'a light-skinned black woman' in her early twenties, around 5'2" tall and of slim build. She was wearing a grey-hooded jacket, a red jumper, blue jeans, and is carrying a JD Sports carrier bag.
