Whether she's on or off screen, Jennifer Aniston is rarely seen without her glossy hair and bronzed skin. But her portrayal of a woman suffering from addiction and depression in her latest film Cake required an image overhaul.
After receiving a standing ovation at the Cake premiere during Toronto's Film Festival on Monday night, Aniston revealed she found letting go of her make up, high heels and yoga classes refreshing.
"It actually was extremely liberating," Aniston said at the press conference reports Vanity Fair.
"As women, we do feel that we have to live up to an expectation whether it is on camera or going to the market or whatever it is. The truth of the matter is that that is not always the way it is. We don't always have our high heels on. We don't always have our hair and make up on. And this character is basically someone who had just given up, just on even waking up sometimes."
Aniston's character in the film suffers a tragic accident and struggles from pain because of it. As Vanity Fair explains, Aniston stopped her regular yoga and workout sessions to get on board with this lifestyle.
"There was not a lot of home time," Aniston said to reporters. "So I was pretty much going home, going to sleep... I didn't do anything physically... I pretty much let myself fall apart physically and that was really important for me."
Jennifer's "home time" has paid off, too. People reports the actress has already been tipped for an Oscar for this role.
