The TV legend has been busy filming for the show’s six-episode run, joining newcomer Tim Healy to film a wedding scene.

The new series will see David’s character in charge of the grocery store, after inheriting it from his great Uncle Artwright.

The cast also includes Johnny Vegas, who made his debut as Wet Eric in the Christmas special, and Lynda Baron who will play nurse Gladys Emmanuel.

The original show, 'Open All Hours', which starred the late Ronnie Barker as stammering Albert Arkwright, ran from 1972 until 1985 and was a huge ratings hit.

More than nine million viewers tuned in to watch the the one-off Christmas special on Boxing Day, making it one of the biggest TV hits over the festive period.

While David is happy to star in this show's revival, one sitcom which won't be making a return any time soon is 'Only Fools And Horses'.

Earlier this year, the actor ruled out returning as Del Boy, despite the fact he reprised the role for a Sport Relief sketch starring David Beckham.

'Still Open All Hours' will be screened on BBC1 later this year. See all the snaps from behind the scenes...
