'Strictly Come Dancing' Thrashes 'The X Factor' In Ratings War, Drawing In 2 Million More Viewers On Saturday Night

Uh Oh, Here's One More Reason The 'X Factor' Judges Might Be Upset

Strictly Come Dancing’ thrashed ‘The X Factor’ by a whopping 2 million viewers this weekend, the biggest gap in audience figures so far this year.

While 7.4 million people switched on ITV on Saturday night, to watch Andrea Faustini, Lauren Platt and Stereo Kicks performing hits from the movies, 9.4 million tuned into ‘Strictly’, which saw Pixie Lott coming in at the top of the leaderboard.

On Saturday night, the shows only overlapped for a period of 20 minutes, from 8pm onwards.

It was an exciting weekend for ‘The X Factor’, with Mel B losing her first act of the series, Jake Quickenden, after he went head-to-head with Louis Walsh’s pop band Only The Young in the sing-off.

Simon Cowell admitted that “both” acts had been “horrible”, but it was ultimately Jake who was sent home, leaving Mel in tears at the judges’ table.

Meanwhile, it was a similarly dramatic week over on ‘Strictly’, where Judy Murray managed to scrape through another week despite coming in at the bottom of the leaderboard, with Simon Webbe and Thom Evans defending their spot in the competition on Sunday night.

Former rugby hunk Thom was chosen by the judges to leave the dance floor, admitting: “This experience exceeded all my expectations; it is one of the best experiences of my life.”

Next Saturday night, the remaining stars of both ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘The X Factor’ will be putting on a spooky show, when they take to the stage for both shows’ Halloween specials.
