Nothing says Christmas has arrived quite like the glorious twinkling Christmas light displays across the UK.
The quickest way to banish those winter blues is by taking in a charming light display, and there are plenty to appeal to every sensibility, whether you're looking for festive fun or a stunning artistic endeavour, like Bruce Munro's light installation, Winter Light, at Waddesdon Manor.
The British artist has taken over the National Trust property in Buckinghamshire with seven large-scale, site specific sculptural installations, including his famous Field of Light, a WWI commemorative piece, and Snow Code, a new display inspired by Morse Code.
Visitors planning a drive to London this festive season will be able to take in the Regent Street lights as a glittering backdrop to their shopping.
"There is something special about Regent Street at Christmas," says David Shaw, head of the Regent Street Portfolio at The Crown Estate.
“This year we had one of the largest ever audiences who came to enjoy a traffic-free Sunday for our switch-on show. We had great music from Londoner Jessie Ware and boy band Union J before Take That switched on the lights.
"Christmas in London really begins once the Regent Street Christmas Lights are on."
Since light displays provide fun for the whole family, why not pack up the kids and embark on a festive winter wonderland road trip this December?
