House Searched In Hunt For Missing Becky Watts

Police have been extensively searching an address near the home of missing 16-year-old Rebecca Watts.

Dressed in white protective jumpsuits and blue booties, forensics teams have been seen leaving the address in Wilton Close, Bristol, carrying what appear to be evidence bags.

A large barrel-shaped object, wrapped in black plastic, has also been removed from the house.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said the location in Southmead is one of the "lines of inquiry" that they are following, as is the teenager's home in nearby St George.

The force has also said that two people arrested in connection with the disappearance of the teenager, also known as Becky, remain in custody as the national search for her intensifies.

Missing Teen

Officers from across the country, including Wiltshire, Devon and Cornwall and Gloucestershire Police, have been called in to help in the hunt for the teen.

Police said no significant items had so far been discovered and that a laptop that was found in woodland yesterday is not related to the investigation.

The specialist dog unit from South Wales Police and police helicopter are expected to rejoin the search that is being assisted by experts from the National Crime Agency, College of Policing and the National Missing Persons organisation.

Detective Superintendent Liz Tunks, head of the Major Crime Investigation Team at Avon and Somerset Police, said: "Firstly, I would like to reiterate my message yesterday that our search for Becky continues unabated and we are using all available resources to find her.

"Secondly, I would like to extend my thanks to the local communities in St George and the wider Bristol area who have assisted with our search efforts so far.

"The sheer number of people who have shown support during the public searches has been incredible. I would ask that all planned public searches are co-ordinated through us so they dovetail with the extensive search operation we have running."

Becky left home on February 19 with her phone, laptop and tablet computer but did not inform friends or family where she was going, or take extra clothes.

She is described as 5ft 4in and slim, with long, bright red hair and was wearing a dark navy blue Puffa jacket with fabric sleeves.

Anyone with information about Becky's whereabouts is asked to call 101, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or use the online reporting page Avon and Somerset Police's website.
