Hundreds of us took part in the no make-up selfie trend last year but for one inspirational lady, it meant a whole lot more.
Christina Djebah took her own selfie during the trend and shot to fame by posting the photo in the middle of treatment for aggressive breast cancer. She was backed by more than 300,000 supporters.
Now? She's beaten cancer and become a mum to twins.
Christina gave birth to two young girls by caesarean at Nottingham's City Hospital at about 12.20pm on Friday (1/5) – just a few hours before the royal princess, and Christina's 31st birthday.
Esmee weighed 5lbs 7oz, while Deseree was 5lbs 11oz.
Christina said becoming a mother was the proudest moment of her life: “I can't believe they are here. After everything I have been through, to have become a mother is just amazing. It's a feeling of pure joy. It is wonderful."
The Slimming World leader was diagnosed with the grade three breast cancer – the most aggressive form of the disease – in September 2013.
She endured months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, which caused her to lose her hair.
Her no make-up selfie was posted in March last year, and was shared more than 10,000 times, attracted 300,000 likes and inspired other cancer patients to post their pictures.
She said: "I was just going through treatment and none of my friends had seen me without my wig on. I was bowled over by the response. I was getting messages and phone calls constantly – the support was overwhelming."
Christina married partner Erovwon in June last year and discovered she was pregnant in September. Just a couple of weeks later, the diet consultant was told she was clear of cancer.
"It was certainly an emotional month. I ended up going for my last oncology appointment and telling them I was pregnant. It was unbelievable – a double blessing.
"When I was diagnosed with cancer I had some of my eggs frozen before I had chemotherapy, in case it left me unable to conceive naturally. But in the end it all happened naturally – and I was given two babies at once."
Christina said deep down, she always knew she'd be a mum one day and was determined not to let the cancer stop her.
"What a difference a year makes." she added.
Her sister Rebecca Rowson, 28, added: "The fact Christina has had twins after everything she's been through is amazing.
"It has been an emotional time, and I am extra proud of her. All the way through her treatment you'd never have known she was ill – she dealt with it amazingly."
Mum Louise Faherty, 54, added: "Christina has been strong all the way through her cancer. I cried when I found out she was pregnant.
“Now she has two beautiful daughters – it's incredible."
