NASA Astronaut Terry Virts Captures Incredible Picture Of Earth On Last Day In Space

On His Last Day In Space Terry Virts Captures His Most Stunning Picture Yet

NASA astronaut Terry Virts is finally heading home after spending a record-breaking 200 days aboard the International Space Station.

During those 28 weeks Virts has produced some of the most incredible videos and photos of our planet, and yet he saved the best until last.

This astonishing picture of Earth was taken ahead of Virts' ascent back to the surface along with flight Engineers Samantha Cristoforetti of ESA (European Space Agency) and Anton Shkaplerov of Roscosmos.

Tweeted with the single word 'Home', it's a poignant goodbye for three astronauts that shared their experiences with us every step of the way via Vine, Twitter and Facebook.

Virts and Cristoforetti in particular have been beacons of social media, posting YouTube videos ranging from how to eat a snacks in space, to Cristoforetti reading 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'.

Of course what both will be truly remembered for is their photos, capturing Earth in every state from it's most beautiful to its most treacherous.
