Sky Sports presenter Kirsty and former Olympian Iwan appeared on ‘The One Show’ on Thursday (27 August) to reveal that they would be competing on this year’s series of the BBC ballroom show.
Speaking of getting her dancing shoes on, Kirsty said: “I’ve always been a huge fan of ‘Strictly’, so am very excited to be taking part in the show this year. Sport and fitness have always been a big part of my life but dancing is an entirely new challenge for me! I can’t wait to get started!”
Iwan also said “I’m extremely excited and scared at the thought of taking part in ‘Strictly’. I love watching the show and I can’t believe I’m swapping my running spikes for dancing shoes. I used to be quick at running around the track and I’m just hoping my dance partner doesn’t leave me behind.”
The pair have joined reality star and singer Peter Andre, 'Loose Women' panellist Jamelia, The Wanted’s Jay McGuiness and ‘One Show’ correspondent Anita Rani, boxer Anthony Ogogo, BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, ‘EastEnders’ actress Kellie Bright, broadcaster Jeremy Vine and TV chef Ainsley Harriott on the line-up.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns to BBC One on Saturday 5 September at 7.15pm, where the celebrities will be paired up with the show’s professional dancers.
Current show champion Caroline Flack will also return to perform her salsa routine, while Jess Glynne and Gregory Porter will also be providing musical entertainment.
The couples will then have around three weeks to train before the competition begins properly later in September.
