'X Factor' Host Olly Murs Eyes 'EastEnders' Role, Revealing He Wants To Move Into Acting

After conquering the music charts and trying his hand at presenting, Olly Murs is now turning his attention to acting, and is eyeing a role in ‘EastEnders’.

The ‘X Factor’ host has revealed he wants to take up acting lessons in the hope of becoming a resident of Albert Square.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “I’d love to do acting. I know that it’s something I want to do. It’s just whether I have the time to do it.”

And Olly admitted that he’s already been begging pals at ‘EastEnders’ for a part on the BBC soap.

“I love ‘EastEnders’,” he said. “I’ve spoken to Shane Richie, I’ve told everyone down there, that if there’s ever an idea or a role and you think I could do it then I would jump at it.”

Olly will be hoping his acting is better received than his presenting though, as he recently made headlines for making a massive gaffe during a recent ‘X Factor’ live show.

The blunder saw him announce Monica Michael would be leaving the competition, instead of taking the judges’ vote to Deadlock.

The error led to many calling for the return of previous host Dermot O’Leary, who left the show earlier this year.

Olly tried to downplay the backlash during an interview with The Mirror last week.

"I think you need to put it in perspective with everything that's going on in the world,” he said.

“At the end of the day, I made a single mistake at a critical point in ‘X Factor’ which was massively blown out of proportion."

‘The X Factor’ continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
