‘Strictly Come Dancing’ finalists Katie Derham and Anton Du Beke have hit back at claims that the judges fixed the show so they would be in the final four couples, stating that doing so would be “impossible”.
The duo have come under fire since making it to this weekend’s finale, following reports that the panel unfairly opted to save Katie and Anton during the most recent dance-off, to finally give the professional dancer the chance to compete in a live final, after 11 years on the show.
Anton and Katie found themselves in the bottom two last week
During an appearance on Chris Evans’ Radio 2 show, Katie and Anton were quick to deny the claims, with presenter Katie telling the host: "Chris, like you I've worked for the BBC for a very long time. That sort of stuff just doesn't, cannot, wouldn't happen.
“Too many people [are] keeping an eye on all the Ts being crossed and the Is being dotted, and also, can I just say - how can it be fixed when it's mostly the public voting?"
Anton added: "Forget it. Forget it. It's impossible!"
This is the first time Anton has ever made it to the final, but we need to point out that his previous partners - which include Ann Widdecombe and Nancy Dell’Olio - weren’t exactly hot favourites to do well.
The BBC have faced numerous ‘fix’ claims during the current series, and earlier this week, it was reported that bosses have called a private meeting with pro Ola Jordan, following accusations she made about the judging and scoring systems.
On Saturday, Katie goes up against Kellie Bright, Jay McGuiness and Georgia May-Foote, in the battle for the Glitterball trophy.
