Kevin Anderson's Parents Say That No Matter What Happens At The US Open Final, He Is A Winner

“Whatever happens you are a winner, always remain positive and live in the moment.”

It has been a lot of hard work to get to this point. These were the words of South African Kevin Anderson, after he won his US Open semi-final and set up a date with world number one Rafael Nadal.

HuffPost SA spoke to the Andersons on Sunday and theyparents told us about all the emotion they went through when he won the semi-final.

"It was a surreal experience; we were completely overwhelmed and overjoyed. After years of hitting millions of tennis balls, and to see that was a dream come true," said Barbara Anderson.

"It made me realise that dreams do come true. It was absolutely phenomenal and we knew he could do it."

"No matter what happens tonight, he is a winner. Nadal is a phenomenal tennis player, all Kevin needs to do is take the name away. The dimensions of the court is the same size, the balls are the same size and racket is the same, he must enjoy the moment."

Anderson is on course to making history by becoming the first South African in 36 years to win a grand slam final.
