A former top tier ANC leader who worked closely with Sindiso Magaqa in Umzimkhulu says the community will continue his work.
"We will continue to pick up his spear. He came to the community and he fought to help our people. To not finish his work would not be honouring him," former regional secretary Thabiso Zulu said.
An emotional Zulu was speaking to News24 at Magaqa's funeral in Ibisi on Saturday where his former political partner would be laid to rest.
Zulu said that Magaqa's work in fighting corruption in his home town would continue.
"Young people must use him as an example. He was known for his good deeds and especially paying attention to the needs of everyone on the ground. He always wanted to do good."
Zulu said that it was an emotional day for him.
"I am so numb. I cannot even feel my body. I feel like someone is just going to tell me it was a bad dream and I will awake from it. I have never felt this sad."
Zulu vowed to continue fighting corruption as Magaqa did.
"When we started this thing we were prepared to lose our lives. We will not stop fighting corruption. It would be a betrayal on his dreams." -- News24
