IN A NUTSHELL: The invite to Lanvin Autumn/Winter told us that a "fun party will follow the show", but even before it started, it was clear that the party had already begun. Cakes, canapes and champagne filled the giant catwalk on arrival, and what followed was one of the biggest parties a fashion show has ever seen.

Body-hugging, neoprene dresses opened the show, with peplums and ruffles around the waist and neck, but after a hit of bright colour, things suddenly got dark. Black leather pencil skirts followed, then belted coats with overly round shoulders, fur jackets and flared, velvet LBDs. However, after a series of all-black came the piece de resistance: sparkling gems embellished onto cocktail dresses, gold brocade, pink and turquoise fox fur, luxe fabrics and swirling prints. In the house of Lanvin, it was time to party.

BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: While we loved the sheer simplicity of the openining pieces, with their curvy shapes and bold colour, the party pieces in the collection were well and truly dazzling. We're pretty sure the A-list will be queueing up to wear them next season.

F-ROW: Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington, Pharrell Williams, Dita Von Teese and Jessica Alba.

VERDICT: When Elbaz emerged at the end of the catwalk to sing a rendition of Que Sera, Sera, the audience leapt to their feet to join in the celebration of his 10 years at Lanvin. There was a party atmosphere throughout this A/W show and it was hard not to be swept up in it. This is a designer who knows how to fave fun, and this significant season was a reminder of just how much fun he has injected into his collections, both past and present. Long may it continue.
