Amazon Launches Fire HD Tablet For Kids (And Will Replace It For Free If They Break It)

Let's face it, your child probably knows their way round your tablet better than you do, so Amazon's latest release could be just the thing for them.

Amazon has launched its first tablet for kids - an all-new Fire HD Kids Edition - and if your children happen break it within two years, they promise it will be replaced for free (no questions asked).

The comes with a HD display, front and rear-facing cameras and free kids content, including thousands of books, videos, apps and games.

Amazon say they created the tablet with three main ideas in mind:

Kids break things. So if they break the tablet, all you have to do is return it and Amazon will replace it.

Parents don't want to worry about the bill, so the tablet includes a year of Fire for Kids Unlimited, which is unlimited access to books, videos, apps and games at no additional cost.

Kids actually want a tablet, not a toy. That's what this is.

The tablet costs £119 with 8GB of memory, or for £20 more with 16GB or memory.

The tablet comes with a blue or a pink cover.

The free games included feature popular children's TV characters like Thomas & Friends, Fireman Sam, Avengers, Mickey Mouse, Dora the Explorer, The Penguins of Madagascar, Shaun the Sheep, and loads more.

Fire HD Kids Edition also comes with innovative parental controls that encourage learning before play and help manage screen time.

Parents select all of the content their kids can see and can limit kids’ screen time by content type.

Dave Miles, European Director of the Family Online Safety Institute, a not-for-profit organisation that guides parents on how to use technology in their families, said:
