The red carpet at the 67th annual Cannes Film Festival was awash with looks from the latest shows and pieces custom-created by fashion's biggest names, as stars of fashion and film walked the famous 24 steps of the Palais des Festivals.

In pure silver screen style, the best of Fashion Week was showcased alongside bespoke creations made especially for Cannes, as Amber Heard attended in latest-season Vionnet, and Karlie Kloss chose a beaded Chanel couture dress. Suki Waterhouse was elegant in bespoke Christian Dior and Sofia Coppola broke away from the gowns in an on-trend sequin short suit from Valentino's Pre-Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 collection. The stand-out looks were dreamy creations featuring tulle, beading, silk and embellishment, as the trends for this season and next made a statement on the red carpet. With smoky eyes and pulled-back hair bringing out her natural beauty, the Russian model brought a touch of colour to her black tulle and lace dress with eye-catching De Grisogono amethyst earrings.

Showing the effectiveness of a simple silhouette, all eyes were on Lara Stone as she struck a pose in a bespoke fuschia Calvin Klein Collection column. From head to toe, the Dutch model was every inch the seductress, as her long blonde locks fell loosely around the eye-catching detail of the asymmetric dress.

The fashion world fell for the relaxed luxe of Amber Heard's Vionnet look, as the actress walked the steps of the Palais des Festivals in a elegant take on the slouchy t-shirt, paired with a metallic long skirt. A breath of fresh air amongst a sea of structured gowns.

The French actress, who went home with the Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival last year for her role in Blue is the Warmest Colour, worked her colouring in bespoke green Prada. The rich tone of the satin perfectly complemented her red hair, and a slick of vermillion on the lips added further depth to the bejewelled look. With a plunging neckline and embellished train, Léa had all the appeal of a true Hollywood starlet.

The opening night of the 67th Cannes Film Festival was marked by a screening of Olivier Dahan's Grace of Monaco biopic. Sofia Coppola made a style statement from the get-go by eschewing the gown trend and instead donning a minimalist Valentino short suit. The sequined look was the first of many winning looks from the American director, who also wore Michael Kors and Louis Vuitton at the Festival.
