Dad Terms and Conditions

No-one ever reads the terms and conditions of anything anymore... And we have no idea what we're signing up to... Being a dad is no different!!! It's just like reading all those other Terms and Conditions, you have no idea what you're signing up to but you still just click "I Agree" ... or as I like to put it, you just click "Aaahh, I wish I'd never..."

Ah, the good old terms and conditions. You know what I'm talking about. Those documents filled with thousands of pages of important information that we all ignore?

No-one ever reads the terms and conditions of anything anymore... And we have no idea what we're signing up to... Being a dad is no different!!! It's just like reading all those other Terms and Conditions, you have no idea what you're signing up to but you still just click "I Agree" ... or as I like to put it, you just click "Aaahh, I wish I'd never..."

Until now!!

Now, I know what you're thinking... Usually the terms and conditions of anything are supposed to be very well hidden, in a basement, of an ancient underground fortress, in a country that no-one has ever heard of, with a terrible climate that means only Bear Grylls could survive in, guarded by a swarm of angry killer monkeys and Jason Stratham without a shirt on - not out in the world for everyone to know what they are agreeing to! But, it's about time that dads knew the truth. The truth of what they're 'signing up' to when they decide to become a dad.

I wonder if this will make all us men/dads more or less likely to now read the terms and conditions that we're faced with on a day in day out basis? Will it fill us with more fear or more comfort knowing what to expect? Probably, knowing what most dads are like, nothing will change and we'll just keep clicking the 'agree' button.

A while back, iTunes actually placed some deliberate phony information in some of their T & C's to see whether anyone noticed. Did you you notice them? It's such a bizarre concept that every day, we're faced with pages and pages of terms and conditions and never read them, yet we click 'agree' at the end. I am amazed that more people haven't gotten into serious problems with this.

Companies are savvy though, they're designed to be difficult to read, long and in tiny print. In today's busy, urgent, impatient world, no-one is going to spend time reading the t & c's of anything.

The truth is, we live in a world where we have to cover our backs at every turn. So dads, now it is time to cover your backs! Read the T and C's, seek advice, know what you're signing up to, think twice, take a big, deep breathe and then make your decision. (Or just 'be more careful.')

The question is, what would these terms and conditions read like if they were written by a mum? How accurate are they? One mum who read this off The Dad Network said this, "I read this and laughed, and then went, shit....it's all true."
