Forget faddy diets – the secret to weight-loss could be a simple spritz away, as a French perfumer claims it has created the world’s first slimming fragrance.
The makers of the Velds ‘Prends-Moi’ perfume claim the ingredients work like a stress reliever, increasing the wearers feelings of contentment by releasing B-endorphins in the skin (neurotransmitters that deliver messages between nerve cells).
This, they claim, takes away the urge to overeat.
The perfume also contains caffeine, carnitine and spirulina extract – ingredients that allegedly activate the enzymes involved in lipolysis (breaking down fat).
Or, as the official Velds website describes it, “the perfume caresses the skin like rushing water delivering aquatic, fruit and floral scents from a fantasy Garden of Eden…”

For the fragrance to work properly, the wearer has to apply generously in the morning and again when they’re most likely to have a snack-attack.
“Use every time the need for snacking arises and in light spraying on the specific zones to be slimmed, morning or nigh,” states the website.
The official Velds ‘Prends-Moi’ website also claims their promises are backed by a scientific trial.
The Centre of Biological Research and Cutaneous Experimentation study of women aged 18 to 75 years found that 82% experienced a “sensation of comfort” after applying the fragrance.
A further 75% of the women noted a decrease in their snacking urges after using the perfume for 28 days.
So what does skinny smell like?
According to the makers website, the top notes include accents of bergamot, mandarin and grapefruit. Base notes include musk and vanilla with patchouli and the woodsy intensity of sandalwood.
