Former Friends star Matthew Perry is set to bring cult Seventies television show The Odd Couple back to the box.

According to reports, Matthew is planning on co-writing, producing AND starring in a remake of the original sit-com about two mismatched middle-aged men who share an apartment.

"Ever since seeing the movie The Odd Couple when I was 10-years-old, it has been a dream for me to play Oscar Madison," Matthew told Deadline.

"To be given the opportunity to develop a modern version of it for CBS has put a permanent smile across my face."

While Matthew is keen to play one of the, er, odd couple, the hunt for a co-star is on. Um, Matthew, may we be so bold as to suggest Matt Le Blanc?

The news comes as Jennifer Aniston admitted she longed for more Friends. "I'd honestly go back to it if we could," she said at the Television Academy's An Evening Honouring James Burrows in October.

"If I had a time machine, I would like to go back to 2004 and not have stopped."

We. Want. A Reunion.
