Homeless Man Finds Suitcase Of Cash, Donates Money To Charity Because He 'Just Wants To Find A Job'

Homeless Man Donates Cash To Charity Because He 'Just Wants A Job'
|

Earlier this month, a Canadian homeless man surprised the internet when he handed in a suitcase he found containing $2,400 (£1,223) to police.

Members of the public donated more than $5,000 (£2,500) to give to the man as a reward via a GoFundMe page.

But the remarkable gent, who wishes to remain anonymous, has surprised us all again by giving a note to local authorities asking them to donate the money to charity.

"He just remained very humble and said: 'You know what? I don't want that money, you can donate that money to food shelters'," says constable Alex Bérubé of the West Shore Canadian National Police Service in the video from GeoBeats.

The homeless man reportedly said that he was touched by the public's effort but added that he "just wants to find a job".

Commenting on the GoFundMe Page, Mike Kelly, who initiated the fundraiser, said he is going to ensure the money raised goes to an appropriate organisation.

"Here is a man who is facing many challenges, yet despite that, he chose to do the right thing and see that another person wasn't left short thousands of dollars and facing the challenges that would bring them," he added.

"Now I'm going to do everything I can to help find him a job that fits his personal situation, and will hopefully move him closer to overcoming his current challenges."
