Lionel Messi and his long-term girlfriend Antonella Roccuzzo are expecting their second child.

The footballer reached out to fans on social media by posting this heartwarming snap on Instagram, showing his and Antonella's two-year-old son Thiago wrapping his arms around her tummy and kissing her small baby bump.

"Waiting for you baby! We love you", Lionel captioned the black-and-white snap and signed off the post with an emoji blowing a kiss.

He also posted the heart-warming photo on his Facebook page with the caption "Can't wait to welcome you into our world!!! We love you! Thiagui, mum and dad".

The announcement came after rumours began spreading that they were expecting another child, in particular a report from Argentinian newspaper Clarin which claimed the couple are expecting a second son and are planning to name him Benjamin.

The 27-year-old FC Barcelona player became a father for the first time in November 2012, confirming the news on Facebook by posting that he was the "happiest man in the world."

A proud father, Lionel often takes to Instagram to post cute family snaps and even has the handprints and name of his son Thiago tattooed on his calf.
