London's Best Spas

Who doesn't love a good spa treatment? Whether you're in need of a break or just want a bit of pampering, London has a wealth of spas available to give you some much-needed "me" time.

Treatments usually involve around an hour's worth of lying down and being pampered, so they always leave you feeling fresh and ready to take on the world.

And the best part of going to a spa is that the treatments are only the beginning of the fun - having a dip in the pool, using the sauna or lazing in the lounge, all add up to a relaxing afternoon.

We've visited and reviewed some of the top spas in London to help you decide where your next treat should be.

London's Best Spas
Lush Spa, Chelsea(01 of06)

If you're looking for a treatment with a difference you need to head to a Lush Spa. Each treatment is completed using natural Lush products while a special soundtrack plays in the background.

Try The Good Hour to experience a full body massage that certainly lives up to its name.

The sea-themed treatment begins with an in-depth consultation with your therapist where you'll be able to select from a choice of massage bars. Then, a 70 minute full body deep-tissue massage leaves you feeling like all the knots in your body have been untied.

With sea shanties playing in the background as well as some other quirky surprises (we won't spoil it), The Good Hour is as fun as it is relaxing.

Head to Lush Spa's Chelsea branch and you'll be able to drink tea or rum and munch on some biscuits in the adorable kitchen before you head home with your complimentary massage bar.

Lush Spas are available nationwide. The Good Hour costs £80.

Spa at Four Seasons Hotel London, Park Lane(02 of06)

The spa at the Four Seasons Hotel is modest in size, yet big enough to act as a nice respite from the bustle of London after a busy day at work.

On arrival at the hotel, climb into the lift and head to one of the topmost floors where you'll find the spa - the views from which are truly breathtaking, you must check them out.

The spa boasts treatment rooms, a small pool and sauna. There are also relaxation pods where you can lounge around while sipping mint tea, nibbling dried fruit and nuts, and reading a magazine.

The Blue Diamond Facial treatment lasts 80 minutes. It is predominantly an anti-ageing treatment which helps to firm and brighten skin.

It begins with the cleansing of the face and neck, followed by exfoliation using the "Blue Diamond resurfacing peel". Eye cream and instant plumping cream are then applied to deeply moisturise the skin.

The facial finishes with an application of Blue Diamond concentrate which is meant to boost the collagen in your skin, as well as a luxurious moisturiser and BB cream which leaves your face glowing a treat. It's incredibly relaxing and your pollutant-ridden skin thanks you for it!

Obviously the treatment is quite expensive for what it is and is not something that you'd try regularly. However you should definitely give it a go if you're planning on attending a wedding or other special occasion.

The Blue Diamond Facial costs £275.

Corinthia London, ESPA(03 of06)

Once you are deep within the corridors of the Corinthia, you would never guess you were 500 yards away from a noisy riverbank.

With floor-to-ceiling mother-of-pearl doors, sleep pods which are cosy, plush booths sectioned off by a curtain, and therapists that are consistently friendly and superb, this is hands down one of the best spas in London.

The two-hour ESPA experience allows you to create your own itinerary - infinitely preferable as your body may feel different from when you made the booking.

It starts with the foot bathing ritual, moves on to inhaling your preferred fragrance. Then, a combination of head and neck massage, back rub and a mini facial using a Clarisonic.

The pressure was spot-on, and I loved that you could have piped music that wasn't the usual creepy Spa panpipes. Afterwards, you'll float back down the Thames.

Cowshed(04 of06)

Cowshed's Primrose Hill branch is as picturesque as its leafy surroundings. White walls and distressed furniture, comfy sofas and a range of fresh juices, healthy salads and baked goods, you start relaxing before you've even headed for your treatment.

Walk past the mani/pedi stations on the top floor (with retro TVs showing retro shows) and descend to the treatment rooms where you're asked to keep your voice to a whisper.

Treatment rooms are equally as homely, with soft beds and dim lighting.

Try the deep tissue massage (60 minutes) to ease out those aches and pains, therapists are knowledgeable and can talk you through all manner of problems, offering lifestyle advice and adjustment so you don't undo all the good work as soon as you leave.

Grace Belgravia(05 of06)

If you're looking for somewhere indulgent, head to Grace Belgravia. The women-only private members' club is a discreet, yet luxurious haven for busy women to take a load off.

Try The Grace Detox Facial: The Cure, is an hour long facial designed to soothe and revitalise.

It includes a three-step facial peel (not as worrying as it sounds), a cleanse (including some blackhead squeezing - painful if you have as many as I do) and relaxing facial massage.

At £145, it's definitely more expensive than your average facial, but for a special occasion there's no better person to treat but yourself.

And who knows you might even bump into a celeb or two, Cara and Poppy Delevingne are both big fans of the club.
