Mark Zuckerberg And Priscilla Chan Announce They're Expecting A Baby Girl In Very Personal Story On Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg And Wife Share Poignant, Painful Truth Behind Getting Pregnant
|

Most of us are used to baby announcements on Facebook, so we wouldn't expect CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan to do it any other way.

But Zuckerberg also took the time to very honestly share how hard won this pregnancy has been, which touched our hearts.

In it, he raised awareness around miscarriages, writing: " We want to share one experience to start. We've been trying to have a child for a couple of years and have had three miscarriages along the way.

"You feel so hopeful when you learn you're going to have a child. You start imagining who they'll become and dreaming of hopes for their future. You start making plans, and then they're gone. It's a lonely experience. Most people don't discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you -- as if you're defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own."

He added that social media was actually a great way of bringing a community together around taboo issues.

"In today's open and connected world, discussing these issues doesn't distance us; it brings us together. It creates understanding and tolerance, and it gives us hope."

Also in the photo is the couple's dog Beast who is a Hungarian sheepdog known as a Puli, and has his own Facebook page with a cool 2.1 million fans.

Congratulations, Zuckerbergs!
