New ‘Super Healthy' Milk To Launch This Week

A new range of ‘miracle’ milk is due to hit the supermarket shelves this week, and it’s not just any ordinary milk, it’s M&S all-natural, fat-free milk…

Promising to cut up to 84 tons of saturated fat a year from Brits diet, M&S’s new milk range contains 6% less fat than a standard pint of milk and comes from dairy cows fed only on a natural diet.

So what makes the milk so special?

Following a trial involving Reading University, M&S looked into whether it was possible to feed cows a completely natural diet and if it made the milk produced, lower in saturated fat and generally healthier.

The results found that by removing palm oil from the animal’s diet, which is naturally high in saturated fat, and replacing this with lighter natural seed oils, it not only made no difference to the quality of milk, but the milk contained less fat as a result.

“It has less saturated fat but actually tastes better, there is less impact on the environment due to the reduction in palm oil, our farmers cows are healthier and our farmers will benefit from a guaranteed price for their milk,” says M&S technical executive, Sue Bell.

The naturally lower in fat milk goes on sale this week and costs exactly the same as its standard pint – 49p.
