When nine-year-old Amber Friel tucked into a bag of Haribo Star Mix, there was probably one shape she didn't expect to pull out - an inch-long metal bolt.

Amber found the not-so-sweet-treat in a mini bag of the popular chews, which had been part of a multi-pack she'd received in her Christmas stocking.

Her dad, Stephen, 50, had purchased the £2.99 sweets from Tesco in December.

"We couldn't believe it. It makes a mockery of their advertising jingle, they should change it to 'kids are going to love it so, the happy world of 'hari-bolt'," the disgruntled dad of Haverhill, Suffolk said.

A Haribo spokesperson told the Daily Star that they take all customer complaints 'very seriously' and would be carrying out an inquiry.

"We would like to investigate this matter fully and would ask that Mr Friel contacts us directly in order for us to determine what the item is and how it has come to be found in a packet of our products," they said.
