Ever since the London 2012 Olympics kicked off, many Londoners have opted to work from home rather than face packed tubes and buses.

However, marital affairs dating website IllicitEncounters.com has discovered that many may be doing more than working.

Has the Olympics created a surge of cheaters?

Illicit Encounters has over 690,000 members in the UK, 150,000 of these living in Greater London, and the site has seen a staggering 150% increase in members signing up during 9-5 working hours since the Games began.

“Working from home can often cause distractions. Work ethics can fly out the window as the boss isn’t jumping down your throat, and before you know it, you’re surfing the web for unrelated interests.

"With 50% of Londoners attempting to work from home during the Olympics - and no colleague looking over their shoulders, it’s not surprising that many would use this time to find some fun outside of their work and marriage.

"For those who have poor sex lives with their partners it’s a chance to look elsewhere and do as the athletes do: go for gold!”
