Prince George is apparently a right little water baby, according to his proud mum.

George's mum, the Duchess of Cambridge, spoke about her son's love for water at an event for the charity SportsAid, of which she is patron.

Kate told Commonwealth swimmer, James Hickman, that George loves a good splash around in the pool (and probably in the bath, too).

"She was at the swimming last night, so I was just interested to know if she had taken George swimming," James told reporters.

"She's been swimming with him. She said he loves the water and he grabs things to splash with. So maybe he could be the next royal to take part in the Olympics. And if he was in swimming that would be incredible."

Prince George celebrated his first birthday on July 22, and it seems the royal water baby has been enjoying a weekly splash around for several months.

According the Mail, George and Kate head to Buckingham Palace once a week to use the palace's swanky swimming pool.

No local leisure centre for him, thank you very much!

There's no word on whether his famous great-granny joins him for a dip...
