This Tiny Passenger Jet Could Be The Next Concorde

London to New York in just 3.5 hours!

Fancy lunch in London and dinner in New York? If you have £4,000 to spare, it’s a dream which could soon come true.

Richard Branson yesterday unveiled the prototype design for Baby Boom, a supersonic jet which can cross the Atlantic in just 3.5 hours.

A collaboration between Virgin Galactic and a US startup Boom Technology, the jet is set to fly at a speed of 1,451mph, 10 per cent faster than Concorde.

Engineers are now gearing up for the plane’s first test flight in Southern California next year.

The plane is significantly smaller than Concorde, seating just 40 to 50 passengers, compared with Concorde’s 92 to 128.

But it’s also much cheaper than the ill-fated, supersonic jet, a return ticket for which cost around $20,000 (£16,000) before it was retired in 2003.
