This Friday sees the release of The Kid, the gritty, ultimately uplifting screen version of Kevin Lewis's best-selling 'misery memoir'.

The film chronicles how he was neglected and physically abused by his parents, but overcame this to live a happy and fulfilled life.

The Kid is Directed by Nick Moran of Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and stars Natascha McElhone, unrecognisable as the star of The Truman Show and Solaris, and Rupert Friend, star of Pride and Prejudice and The Young Victoria and boyfriend of Keira Knightley.
