As part of HuffPost UK's month of Digital Detox, we're taking a long, hard - and often uncomfortable - look at the way we use the internet, particularly social media.

Did you know, for example that 5-10% of internet users are unable to control how much time they spend online? And that brain scans have shown similar patterns between social media addicts and drug addicts?

With one third of the world's population now using social media and many of us using it around the clock... I guess you could say we're... um... addicted.

Here are a few things that you only know when you're a social media addict.
