Anya’s fashion career began aged eighteen in Florence, Italy where she spotted a leather duffel bag which she knew would be popular in the UK. Anya imported five hundred pieces and sold them all. At nineteen, Anya opened her first store on Walton Street in London and over twenty years on, the business has expanded to fifty five stores in seventeen countries.

Anya now oversees the creative direction of the brand. The brand has become synonymous with stylish yet practical designs that satisfy both women’s cravings and needs, craftsmanship and personalisation. Anya Hindmarch Bespoke was launched in London in 2009 offering a collection of leather goods that can be personalised with messages, handwriting and drawings to create a truly memorable gift. The brand has also undertaken a number of creative projects. These include designing the eco-friendly ‘I’m not a plastic bag’ tote, the Vanity Fair Oscar party bags and a collection of coats in collaboration with Barbour. Anya Hindmarch hasbeen a design consultant to British Airways for ten years, designing the First Class amenity kits. She is a UK Trade ambassador, a non-executive director of the British Fashion Council and sits on the boards of the RoyalAcademy and the Design Museum. Anya was awarded an MBE in 2009.
