Catherine Hartmann

Catherine Hartmann is an adamant promoter of European public health policies and a keen supporter of EU and civil society dialogue. She has been active in the field of European policies for almost a decade, working for not-for-profit organisations, as a Manager and then Director. In her role of Executive Director of the European Cancer Leagues (ECL) and then of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) she led the development of strategic plans, she set up new programmes and services for members and was responsible for advocating for better care and practice of care on behalf of her organisations. In particular, Ms. Hartmann worked patient rights, on patients and healthcare professionals’ mobility, on health determinants such as tobacco, on training and specialisation of healthcare professionals, on information to patients, pharmacovigilance and patient safety. Working with a wide range of international and local partners and interlocutors, she contributed to the production of other programme activities and projects, including policy papers, training sessions, seminars, conferences and working groups. She opened the European COPD Coalition office in Brussels and started leading it in September 2011. Ms. Hartmann holds a Master’s degree in Public Law from the University Paris II.
