Ban Child Beauty Pageants!

What is wrong with humanity? We have an unhealthy fascination with child beauty pageants that feature young girls from the age of 3 strutting their stuff on stage and being dolled up to the max. I've seen less makeup on Dolly Parton.

Jennifer Lawrence crashed her car. Do you know why she crashed her car? Because she thought she saw "Honey boo boo child", the seven year old pageant queen. Turns out it wasn't her, but the Hollywood star was obviously fascinated by the fact that it could have been.

They look too mature for their so called "age divisions" and if you were to guess the ages of some of the contestants you'd probably mistake one of the three year olds for a five year old. With this mask of maturity on the outside it becomes apparent that on the inside they are just young girls who are being taught that looks are everything. One girl went to receive the national title and started to cry on stage. It was obvious then that she was only in single figures when it came to age.

Is it right to dress young girls up so provocatively at such an early age? There should be a strict age limit on the entries for beauty pageants if you ask me, that age limit being when they're old enough to understand exactly what it is that they're getting themselves into. I'm thinking along the lines of 16, maybe?

If you look up Honey Boo Boo on YouTube it'll probably be one of the most disturbing things you will ever see. This mother feels the need to feed her daughter "Go Go special juice" in order to give her confidence and make her win. Do you not sense a feeling of stepping-over-the-line slightly?

As a little girl I was allowed to be a little girl. I wasn't forced to grow up too quickly and I didn't get into makeup until I started secondary school. Young girls should be at home playing with their Barbie dolls, or watching Disney movies with their friends. They shouldn't be being taught how to flaunt their stuff in front of an audience with skimpy outfits on.

If you're not willing to enforce stricter age restrictions then ban the pageants all together. In the show one of the mothers was shouting at her daughter and telling her that she needs to try harder. Does she need to try harder so that the mother looks good? Maybe having a beautiful daughter as a beauty pageant winner would look good for her reputation, and the prize money could go towards a new car she's always wanted? This whole thing could be classed as child abuse. No? You don't think so? Well I think pinning young girls down to have their eyebrows waxed is. Why does a 3 year old need to have waxed eyebrows! There's nothing right with the pageant culture, nothing at all.

We were all thinking it, I just said it.
