Shard Climber Evades Arrest After Scaling Skyscraper At Sunrise

Man was spotted near the top of Europe's tallest building early on Monday morning.

A man spotted climbing London’s Shard skyscraper in London on Monday morning has evaded arrest.

The free-climber was seen scaling the glass exterior of western Europe’s tallest building at sunrise. He was filmed near the 95-storey building’s pinnacle.

An eye witness claiming to know the man told the Mirror: “He ran over London Bridge Station, got a boost from someone and did a pull up on to it.

“He used a few suction cups at the start of it but was then climbing free solo.”

Police were called at 5.15am and persuaded the man to climb back into the building

A spokesman for the Met said: “Emergency services attended and the man went inside the building where he was spoken to by officers. He was not arrested.”

Located close to London Bridge, the Shard is 310 metres (1017 ft) tall and is home to offices, restaurants, a retail arcade and a hotel.
