European Elections 2019: Polls Show Brexit Party Ahead As Voting Begins

The Tories are expected to fall to their lowest ever vote share.

Polls are open across the UK as people head to cast their ballot in the European elections.

In a sign that establishment parties are falling behind across the continent, the Conservatives are expected to fall to their lowest ever vote share since they formed in 1834.

The polling average shows Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party is set to gain the most votes in the UK, currently on 35.3%, ahead of the two major parties.

Labour is on 16.8%, with the Tories at 10%.

Jeremy Corbyn released a video message as voters head to the polls for the European elections.

Warning that “the far-right is on the rise”, the Labour leader said Britain was “at a crossroads”.

“The actions we take now will have huge consequences for our future,” he said.

The Liberal Democrats are also polling ahead of the Conservatives, on 16.3%.
