US actor David Hedison has died at the age of 92.
He was best known for his role as CIA agent Felix Leiter in the 1973 James Bond film Live And Let Die, a role he reprised 16 years later in Licence To Kill.
David’s representative confirmed he died in Los Angeles on Thursday, with his daughters Alexandra and Serena at his side.
They said in a joint statement: “Even in our deep sadness, we are comforted by the memory of our wonderful father.
“He loved us all dearly and expressed that love every day. He was adored by so many, all of whom benefited from his warm and generous heart. Our dad brought joy and humour wherever he went and did so with great style.”
David’s daughters also said they fondly remember their dad’s positive attitude and “wicked” sense of humour.
He was also known for playing the lead role of the cult horror film The Fly in the 1950s, for which he was credited under his real name, Al Hedison.
In addition to his work in the film industry, David also enjoyed success on TV, appearing in Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, going on to star in a total of 110 episodes.
He would later appear in the American soaps Another World and The Young And The Restless.
David’s daughters are also both in the entertainment industry, with Alexandra – who is married to Jodie Foster – working as an actress and director, while Serena works in editing and producing.
