This Morning has had its fair share of chaotic kitchen moments in 2020, with James Martin the latest chef to have things go a little off course on the daytime show.

He had hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield in stitches on Monday, after a mishap with a blender.

The chef had been trying to create a cheese twist and cauliflower soup, but showed viewers exactly how NOT to do it.

Having narrowly avoided a disaster after it boiled over on the hob, James took the soup over to a blender, but failed to secure the lid properly, whizzing it all over the kitchen in the studio.

“You’re having a really good day aren’t you?”, laughed Holly.

A clearly stressed James, then joked: “I’ve got a director in my ear saying I’ve got seven minutes, then six minutes, now I’ve got one minute apparently. Look at the state of this!”

But to add insult to injury, Phillip then questioned what “the brown skidmark” was on the top of the bowl of pre-prepared soup he was eating.

“I got up at five in the morning to come here!” James fumed, prompting yet more giggles from Holly and Phil.

Earlier this year, John Torode had a similar disaster on This Morning, when he didn’t realise he’d set a tea towel on fire during a live link-up from his home.

This Morning regular Alison Hammond also made her debut in the kitchen, which turned out to be suitably hilarious.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
