Jeremy Edwards Hits Back At Anton Du Beke After X Factor Celebrity Jibes

The long-standing Strictly pro recently suggested Brendan Cole should have "binned Jeremy off".

Jeremy Edwards has hit back at Strictly Come Dancing professional Anton Du Beke, who was less than complimentary about the former Hollyoaks star’s recent appearance on X Factor Celebrity.

Last month, Jeremy and former Strictly star Brendan Cole teamed up to audition for the celebrity version of Simon Cowell’s ITV talent search, but ultimately failed to impress the judges with their slowed-down version of Kylie’s Love At First Sight.

The pair were ultimately shown the door before the first round of live shows, with Anton admitting he thinks his former co-star Brendan should have gone at it alone.

“I just would have liked to see him do it on his own that’s the only thing. But I know Brendan’s a great performer,” Anton told the Express. “He does his own show, he’s very good. But if I was Brendan I’d bin Jeremy.”

Jeremy was less than happy to read Anton’s assessment of their performance, telling the long-standing Strictly star: “You are not the gentleman I thought you were.”

Responding on Twitter, Jeremy wrote: “Since when do you dump your mates if things don’t go quite to plan? Thank god @BrendanCole values loyalty in a friendship! You are not the gentleman I thought you were @TheAntonDuBeke however I wish you all the best.”

Although he’s best known for his dancing, Anton has also forged a music career for himself, releasing an album of covers called From The Top in 2017.

He’s currently competing with EastEnders actress Emma Barton in Strictly, while Brendan left the BBC dance show last year, after a tumultuous final series that saw him clashing with the judges.
