Joe Wicks Is Standing By His Unique Pronunciation Of Wensleydale Cheese

The Body Coach attempted to clear things up on his Instagram story, but we're less sure whether he was joking than we were before.

By now you may well have seen the clip of fitness coach and king of ‘Lean In 15’ Joe Wicks putting his own spin on the word “Wensleydale”.

Over the weekend, a clip of Joe went viral, after he shared a look at his three-cheese dinner on his Instagram story, highlighting the burrata, brie and – according to him – Wensley-dah-lay he was getting ready to tuck into.

Just in case you haven’t seen it yet, take a look below…

Now, keep in mind this is the man who famously tried to get his followers to start calling broccoli “midget trees”, so the chances are he’s just having a bit of fun, but after the clip was viewed more than two million times, he decided to address the matter in an additional Instagram story post.

He explained: “I’ve just got to clear something up because I’ve had a few messages from people, silly buggers, trying to say that I’m pronouncing that cheese wrong, saying that it’s Wensley-dale.

“But I know my cheeses, I’ve been using it since I was a kid, I’ve loved it… and I know it’s Wensley-dah-lay. So I’m not going to fall for that one, you silly sausages.”

After all that, we’re actually even less sure whether or not he was kidding, but we’re suddenly in the mood to watch Wallace And Gromit…

Joe first rose to fame thanks to his 15-second recipe videos on social media, eventually releasing his first “Lean In 15” cookbook in 2015.

Eventually he landed his own show, The Body Coach, on Channel 4, and regularly makes media appearances where he discusses fitness and nutrition.
