Labour MP Mary Creagh has reported to police a brick being thrown through a window at her constituency office.

The former shadow cabinet minister, who stood in the 2015 Labour leadership election, tweeted about the incident this morning.

Staff distressed to discover brick through office window in Wakefield this morning. No excuse for violence & intimidation in our democracy.

Creagh’s office said it did not know what the motive for the brick being thrown was but that it was “very distressing”.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed to The Huffington Post UK that it had been informed of the incident.

Labour MP Paula Sherriff said it was “awful, inexcusable”. She added in a message to Creagh on Twitter: “”Love to all staff x.”

In July, a brick was thrown through a window at the constituency office of former shadow business secretary Angela Eagle - the day after she launched a leadership challenge against Jeremy Corbyn.
