With Susanna Reid, Richard Arnold, Ranvir Singh, Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins all having taken part in Strictly Come Dancing over the years, Lorraine Kelly is one of a few ITV breakfast show presenters left to sign up – but don’t expect her to any time soon.

Lorraine has revealed the reason why she would “absolutely under no circumstances” take part in the BBC ballroom show, and it’s part in thanks to Anton Du Beke.

The presenter admitted the professional dancer hadn’t been too complimentary about her dance skills, and she was inclined to agree with his verdict.

Lorraine made the admission as she revealed fellow Strictly professional Luba Mustuk had asked her if she’d ever do the show after teaching her a few steps during a Portuguese retreat they went on earlier this year.

Speaking in a video diary for Hello magazine, Lorraine said: “I wasn’t very good at all, but I loved it. It was such great fun.

“Luba said, ‘Why don’t you do Strictly Come Dancing?’ and I said, ‘Absolutely under no circumstances’ because you know there’s always a comedy act in Strictly Come Dancing and they’re funny but rubbish? I would just be rubbish.”

She continued: “I would be terrible and I do remember when Anton Du Beke come on the show and I said to him during the commercial break, ‘Do you think anybody can dance?’ and he said, ’Yeah, yeah absolutely. Stand up a minute.’

“So I stood up and he did the kind of hold thing, and then he said, ’Oh, it’s like dancing with a tree.′ And he was right.

“So you won’t see me on Strictly.”

Lorraine isn’t the only celebrity to have ruled themselves out of Strictly on the grounds they think they’d be rubbish recently.

Last week, Kylie Minogue admitted she would be “dreadful”, telling Radio 2′s Zoe Ball: “I’m a huge fan of the show and I absolutely love watching it but no. I think I’ll let my past videos be the pinnacle of my dance achievements!”
