Police have confirmed the death of Love Island star Mike Thalassitis is not being treated as suspicious.
The 26-year-old was found dead after the authorities were called to a park near Latymer Way, North London at 9:28AM on Saturday morning.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, aged in his 20s, deceased.
“At this early stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious.
“Police are in the process of informing the man’s next of kin. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
News of Mike’s death sent shockwaves through the showbiz world on Saturday night and many of his Love Island co-stars rushed to pay tribute.
Tyla Carr, who was briefly coupled up with Mike on Love Island, was among the first to post a message.
“I can’t believe the call I’ve just had,” she wrote. “Mike, you were loved by all of the Love island family. You’ll be missed so much.
“All my love goes out to your friends and family. Shocked.”
The programme’s host, Caroline Flack, also shared her condolences with a post on Instagram.
“Mike, you were a total gentleman,” she wrote. “I won’t forget that ... it’s so so sad ...you will be missed. RIP.”
A spokesman for ITV, which produces Love Island, said: “Everyone at ITV2 and Love Island are shocked and saddened by this terrible news. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Mike’s family and friends at this very sad time.”
Mike was a late entry to the Love Island villa in the 2017 series and briefly coupled up with Olivia Attwood to begin with.
After finding fame on Love Island, Mike remained in the public eye and appeared on the 2018 series of Celebs Go Dating.
Prior to his reality TV appearances, Mike was a semi-professional footballer and played for numerous league and non-league clubs.
