M61 Traffic Brought To A Standstill After Woman Killed In Crash

A 24-year-old woman has been killed after she was hit by an HGV on the M61 in Bolton.

Police said the woman, who was driving a Ford Fiesta, had experienced a minor collision with the central reservation in the early hours of the morning.

She was hit by the HGV when she left the vehicle to inspect the damage.

The northbound carriageway J4 A6 (Farnworth) and J5 A58 (Westhoughton) are closed and police are warning motorists to expect delays.
