Spring/Summer 13 Maternity Trends - Celebrity Influence

If you're pregnant at this time of the year; how do you stay on trend and remain your stylish self whilst nurturing your bump?

The shops are full of Spring/Summer collections. Much to our annoyance at the moment as it's more cardi and boots weather. But I dream of maxi dress and wedges time; shorts and a breton tee. Come on sunshine. But if you're pregnant at this time of the year; how do you stay on trend and remain your stylish self whilst nurturing your bump?

With the world's media obsessed with what the Duchess of Cambridge is wearing everyday as it is, now she is even more under the spot light during her pregnancy. With her classic style, at five months pregnant Kate is remaining true to her mix of designer and high street. Adapting her old wardrobe to suit her shape. As well as her day to day functions; there are still evening events too. How does she manage to work outfits with her changing shape that remain true to her style and the season? The Duchess is having her wardrobe favourites taken out to embrace her baby bump but also looking at high street stores maternity ranges and London maternity labels like Tiffany Rose.

This week I asked maternity label Tiffany Rose about Spring/Summer trends in maternity; to look at how they link to London Fashion Week collections we saw last September and how to dress for the season when you're blooming.

"This Spring/Summer '13 is a fantastic season for soft and beautiful, hot clime pastels such as sea breeze, apple green and mandarin, complemented by classic neutral/nude/earthy tones. Lace is again a key trend this season. We will also see silk floral gowns and soft-collar kimono tops in Japanese-inspired prints, belted dresses and floral appliques with intricate beading"

From Issa London's SS13 trip to tropical isles with gorgeous vibrant coloured maxi dresses to Simone Rocha's white lace dresses - these trends aren't just for celebrities or high end fashion. They transcend throughout the high street and into maternity fashion. This season detailing is simple, with feminine silhouettes mixed with contrasting textures, fringed hems and metallic hues.

Dressing for warmer months is all about high quality fabrics with beautiful drape to skim your bump. The focus on material selection is on how to flatter. Look for materials such as breathable viscose jerseys, sheer laces and chiffons, and stretch silk for the ultimate occasion.

Do celebrities such as Kate, Pixie Geldof, Kim Kardashian influence maternity wear? Are women interested in emulating their style. Well the team at Tiffany Rose told me; "Celebrities have definitely put the spot-light on glamorous maternity occasion wear, highlighting to women that you can look and feel a million dollars when pregnant".
